GROUP COUNSELING

ACADEMIC SKILLS (8TH GRADE)

At William Wirt Middle School, I led two sections of an Academic Skills Group, driven by data and designed to serve students who were at risk of not graduating. In this group, we completed activities designed to emphasize the importance of taking clear notes, staying organized. completing assignments, advocating for oneself, and paying attention.

STUDY SKILLS (4TH GRADE)

As part of my data-driven advocacy project at the elementary level, I led two sections of a 4th-grade study skills group. To enhance interest, I connected topics like notetaking and ways to study to Harry Potter and superheroes.

RETURN TO SCHOOL (2ND-3RD GRADE)

I offered a small group for 2nd and 3rd grade students preparing to return to in-person learning after a year and a half of online learning. In addition to this small group, I also did individual check-ins with students in this situation.

ANGER MANAGEMENT (1ST GRADE)

I designed this group to address an increased number of outbursts from a 1st-grade class. Students were missing class time and feeding off classmates' behaviors. In this group, we discussed self-control, self-awareness, and strategies to overcome anger.

BRAVE (ANXIETY AND WORRY) (3RD GRADE)

To help address increased anxiety following the pandemic, I led a 3rd grade small group using materials from Counselor Chelsey. We worked on reframing, understanding the brain, and the difference between what we can and cannot control.
