8th - 9th Grade

This lesson was used early in the school year to introduce the basics of identity to older middle school classes (8th and 9th grade). Using comparison to The Lion King, it explains Johari's window and how individuals can choose what they believe about themselves regardless of others' perceptions or assumptions

SELF-CONCEPT POWERPOINT

This presentation introduces identity and Johari's window through the lens of The Lion King. Students then reflect on their own identity and what others may assume about them. Following the lesson, 8th-grade students' understanding of self-concept increased by 79.71% and 9th-grade students' understanding increased by 33.33%
