CONFLICT DE-ESCALATION
4th Grade
An interactive lesson, students learn what it means to escalate a conflict or "add fuel to the fire." Students discuss ways to reduce conflicts. They learn the importance of de-escalating conflicts early via an application activity using a Donald Duck video. Throughout the lesson, it is emphasized that individuals have the power to stop conflict regardless of whether they started it.

This presentation opened discussions about conflicts and the feelings they evoke. Students learn what it means to escalate a problem and strategies for reducing the size of the problem. The lesson ends with an activity where students identify which actions in a video escalated a conflict and what each character could have done instead to end the problem.​
